MCN: Online Education Platform Takeover and Long Term Support
In the education space, Sembit has maintained and upgraded the Master Clinician Network platform since 2019. MCN is an online platform for speech language pathology students that specializes in clinical videos showing speech language pathologists working with actual patients. When MCN came to Sembit, their site was already live and mostly working, but the original developers wanted to move on, and MCN needed a team that could maintain, improve, and evolve the platform. Their backend was written in Go, which is less common than other web technologies, and Sembit had the experience needed to take over the system.
Sembit rebuilt the UI because the platform was not mobile-friendly at the time. Over time, Sembit also rewrote 80 percent of the code, improved the quality of the system, and continued providing responsive support. One of the most concrete performance wins came from a student history report that used to take 18 seconds to run. By replacing inefficient database access with a proper SQL statement, the report time dropped to 300 milliseconds, allowing students to press a button and see their history instantly.

Provider Services Fund: Continuing Education Inside a Mobile App
Provider Services Fund supports small home-based childcare providers in Oregon, and those providers need continuing education credits to remain compliant. Sembit built a mobile app for childcare providers to manage their small home-based childcare centers, then integrated the learning platform directly into that mobile experience.
Instead of forcing providers to leave the app and navigate a separate system, Sembit integrated the online course experience into the mobile app. Providers could watch videos, complete asynchronous learning, and access continuing education content through the same app they were already using to track attendance and facility compliance. The integration uses SSO, tracks course completion, and provides downloadable certificates. This project shows how custom education software streamlines training requirements for compliance.

Provider Services Fund partnered with Sembit to build EducaPro, a multilingual mobile and web app that helps small Oregon daycare providers stay compliant with state regulations, document their operations, and complete continuing education.
University of California Santa Barbara: Custom Giving Portal and CMS
Sembit also built a custom portal for the fundraising department at the University of California Santa Barbara. Their fundraising team had developed many different giving opportunities and needed a better way to present those funds to donors. They wanted a streamlined system with a custom CMS so non-technical staff could create small articles, select which activities to fund, and guide donors through a custom giving flow.
Custom development for education is not limited to classroom learning. Universities and education organizations have many departments that need software: advancement, admissions, continuing education, student services, compliance, research, alumni relations, and administrative operations. The UCSB project focused on donor experience and internal content management, not student instruction. This giving site remained in use for 10 years, demonstrating the long-term value of a well-built custom education platform.
